Tangible Support

It’s been a funny old week –with extreme highs & extreme lows. Looking back it is probably quite a balanced week though I suppose. I had three disappointments – 2 friends who I was looking forward to getting together with were poorly so had to cancel. Those meetings can be rearranged. Continue reading

Say it with flowers!

Say it with flowers – such an old cliché but how true!

The sending of flowers can be a token of love (think of all those fabulous love poems with roses, violets & many others).

They can be a message of support at times of sorrow, mourning & sadness.

They can be a cheerful ‘Hello!’

These were sent to me by Interflora UK when they read that I was having  a pretty miserable time. They are simply beautiful with all my favourite autumnal colours & have SO cheered me up! How wonderful is the twittersphere!

Thank you so much Interflora!

I was not the only lady to receive flowers from Interflora. Rosie Scribble got these lovely roses &  Tara Cain’s were matched to the colour of her blog!

How clever is that! So, although this is not a sponsored post, please make sure you use the talents of Interflora UK to send those special messages!

Be proud of your Twitter!

I love Wednesdays! It is the day when OH & I usually go out on a picnic somewhere. It is the day that we have a slower than usual start so it allows me to sit with a cuppa & look at the entries for the  Gallery over at Sticky Fingers.

I have got a good process sorted. I upload my entry & then make a start clicking on the other entries already posted. I read them, comment (can’t see the point of reading & not commenting!), copy the URL then look for their twitter id.

Now I’m aware that not everyone who posts on the Gallery has a twitter account but most do. I’m a firm believer that we should support each other. Not only in reading & commenting on blogs but also by promoting them. For me that means tweeting them.

So…imagine my frustration when I can’t find their twitter id! I try to search for them using my best detective skills to try to fathom out what it might be from the blog name or details. I have to own up – sometimes I get fed up & give up!!

I’m happy to click the twitter label but what would be fab is for twitter names to be clear & easy to find! So, this is a plea from someone who wants to support your blog – please help by being proud of your twitter!

(Many thanks to @vwallop & @jennypaulin for taking immediate action!)

The Demons

This post is for Writing Workshop at Sleep is for the Weak

I have chosen prompt 2 which is What does depression feel like to you?

I have tried to unpick what happens on some of the occasions the Demons visit.

********

They creep in during the night when the peaceful sleep is momentarily interrupted. They start slowly concentrating on one issue. Questioning your actions – Should you have? Why did you? You should have known better! Useless! Rubbish! Fail, fail, fail! Gradually they up the anti & bring all sorts of things to the front of your mind. They have the pictures – it is so clear. They are SO right. Before you know where you are, your head is spinning.

You wake fully & try to go through the strategies that you have worked out for these times. Eyes close Continue reading

Last Home Game!

For football fans, the beginning of May can bring hopes & tears. It is nearing the end of the season & for some it can bring movement up or down leagues. The last home game it an opportunity for fans & team to affirm their commitment to each other whatever the months since August have brought & to vow to return to the same arena next season.

So we arrive for our last home game. Continue reading

Alphabe-Thursday O is for Oh Dear!

After finding Jenny’s blog I decided that I wanted to have a go at Alphabe-Thursday. Although I’m a new blogger, I did my research because I know that’s what you do (I read the instructions!)& started to think what I could write about for the next letter.

I chose a picture that would be the centre of my post and here it is:

This is my wonderful OH! He is my rock! He is never naive. He’s nearly a’ new man’. He’s always non-judgemental when I mess up. I’m nuts about him because he is so nice! He is my Nick!

So…did you spot the deliberate mistake? Yes – my research took me to last weeks letter N but having got it ready, I wasn’t going to waste it! Hope that’s Ok!(I will understand if I have to do a detention but it is my first time!)
